Therapeutic Approach

Over the past two decades I have worked with individuals, families and groups in a wide range of clinical settings. These experiences have reinforced a central belief: people have the capacity to make meaningful change when they are given the right support, tools and environment.

My approach to therapy is collaborative, thoughtful and grounded in respect. I aim to create a space where you can speak openly about your experiences while we work together to understand patterns that may be affecting your life today.

For many people therapy is an opportunity to slow down and reflect on their thoughts, emotions and relationships. Through this process we begin to identify what may be contributing to feelings of anxiety, depression, frustration or feeling stuck.

Traditional psychotherapy can be very effective in helping individuals develop insight, strengthen coping strategies and make changes that improve daily life. My work often draws from cognitive and behavioral therapies, mindfulness based approaches and insight-oriented psychotherapy.

At times, however, certain experiences continue to affect people even after they have gained insight into them. In these situations, I may incorporate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.

EMDR is a research-supported therapy designed to help the brain process difficult memories and experiences so they no longer carry the same emotional intensity. Rather than repeatedly discussing painful events, EMDR allows the brain to reorganize how those experiences are stored which can reduce emotional distress and help individuals move forward.

Whether through traditional psychotherapy or EMDR, the goal of our work is the same, to help you gain clarity, strengthen resilience, and develop the ability to navigate life with greater confidence and stability.
